Johnny Depp is learning to speak French so his children don't think he is stupid.
The "Pirates of the Caribbean" actor - who lives in the European country with his long-term partner French star Vanessa Paradis - took a crash course in the language to keep up with his bilingual children.
He told Britain's OK! magazine: "I still have the world's worst French accent but I'm working on it. At least I can understand the language well enough to understand my children. They don't have to think their daddy is an idiot!"
Depp revealed that Paradis converses with their children, Lily-Rose and Jack, in her native tongue, but they have to speak to him in English.
He confessed: "I don't want my terrible French to corrupt them. My daughter is usually willing to make allowances for me and even says, 'Oh, c'est tres bon, Papa!' (That's very good Dad). I love hearing that."
