Phil Spector is going to do everything he can to make sure he gets off the hook in the murder charges against him in the death of B-actress Lana Clarkson. And the way things are unfolding he has most likely taken a tip or two from the likes of O.J. Simpson and Robert Blake.
Attorneys for Phil have now filed a motion stating that the former model was not in the right state of mind when she died and was heavily under the influence of drugs. The music producer has denied he ever shot and killed Lana back in 2003. Instead, he claims she was the one who took her own life.
To save his behind, Phil has filed papers stating that Lana was an emotional wreck and bummed about life and financial matters prior to her death. His lawyers recently presented an e-mail from an apparently tearful Lana, who was willing to accept a cash sum of one hundred dollars from an unidentified friend to get her out of this rut.
"I am truly at the end of this whole deal. I am going to tidy my affairs and chuck it..." the e-mail read, according to BBC News.
Jury selection will resume on Monday, however, opening statements are being held off until the end of the month.
Phil, the originator of the famous "Wall of Sound" recording technique, has pleaded not guilty in the case.
