David Gest is suing organisers of an auction of Michael Jackson memorabilia for $1 million.

The music producer - a close friend of the late 'Thriller' star - is demanding damages from Julien's Auctions for attaching his name to items they sold shortly after the pop icon's death in June.

The 56-year-old star, who was good friends with the late pop icon, has decided to part ways with a series of items he has collected over the years and will donate proceeds of the sale to charities Liverpool Unites and the Variety Club.

According to one of the late pop superstar's closest friends, concert promoter David Gest, Michael's real voice was heavy and powerful and nothing like the high-pitched whimper he used when speaking publicly.

The 55-year-old concert promoter - a friend of the late "Thriller" singer since he was 11 - insists the pressure of preparing for a 50-night run of concerts caused the fatal suspected cardiac arrest that killed Michael on Thursday, singling out his doctor Tohme R. Tohme for particular responsibility.

David said: "We all have weaknesses and Michael's was that he trusted the wrong people most of the time. He thought people were good, which they are not."
