"American Idol" winner David Cook attended the Jonsson Cancer Center Foundation's annual Taste for a Cure Benefit in Beverly Hills, and got a chance to talk about his upcoming tour and his relationship with former "Idol" Kimberly Caldwell.

Cook said he was glad to be helping out with the cancer awareness issue because it has affected his family. His older brother, who just celebrated his 37th birthday, has cancer.

Cook said he and his fellow "Idol's" are gearing up for the show's summer tour which begins July 1. He said he is looking forward to it and said part of the reason is because, "I get to hang out with nine of my best friends."

He also talked about his relationship with Caldwell, which began when she interviewed him on the red carpet prior to his "Idol" win. Caldwell is currently in Catalina filming the miniseries "Memories of Murder." When asked if they were still dating, Cook said they were.

He said they would keep in touch while he is on tour. "Text and email will be my life the next few months," he said.
