David Bowie made his first appearance in the UK for two years when he appeared on stage with Dave Gilmour on Monday night (05/29/06).

The singer joined the Pink Floyd legend for an impromptu performance of classic hits 'Comfortably Numb' and 'Arnold Layne' during the encore of the show at London's Royal Albert Hall.

Bowie received a standing ovation from fans as he walked out to take his position at the microphone.

The music legend underwent heart surgery in 2004 during the middle of his European tour - on which he was struck in the eye with a flying lollipop at a concert in Oslo, Norway - and has rarely been seen in public since.

Other guests at Gilmour's concert included David Crosby and Graham Nash - who were members of popular US rock group Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young.
