Wearing golden boots to commemorate the event, David Beckham has played for England for the 100th time, becoming the fifth player ever to reach a hundred.
The 32-year-old star footballer represented the England national soccer team and took the field against France Wednesday night around 9 p.m. This marked his 100th appearance for his home country. He wore golden boots for the game.
A source tells People magazine, "David was so excited to play. He is still enthusiastic and has a great passion for playing for his country."
The game didn't end without a yellow card for Posh Spice's husband. He received the warning for an infraction against the French team around 38 minutes into the game.
Although his team lost, 1-0, Beckham returned to the field to applaud the fans.
A source continues, "Only four players have ever achieved this playing milestone before. It's an historic moment becoming the fifth English player to do it. It's an incredible honor."
