On screen, Cynthia Nixon is best known for being sarcastic in the city on "Sex And The City".
However, the red head actress couldn't be further from high-powered lawyer Miranda Hobbs in her real life. Cynthia, who is currently filming the "SATC" movie in New York, has a deep dedication to her charity work.
The mother of two - along with partner Christina Marinoni - is teaching her two young children the importance of giving back to the community. While helping out at the Curél Lends A Helping Hand Campaign, Cynthia told PEOPLE, "My children are being raised Jewish, so last year we all had a meeting with a rabbi, who said it's good to let your children know what their parents values are."
Cynthia and Christina - a member of Alliance For Quality Education - explained that she makes sure her children's feet are firmly on the ground. She said, "I'm a very big public school advocate. I try to bring public awareness to increase funding. My kids go to public school. I grew up here [in New York], went to public school, got a great education. It wasn't a tough decision."
Curél Lends A Helping Hand Campaign raises money for the Red Cross by auctioning off celebrity hand prints.
Cynthia has two children, Samantha and Charlie, from a previous relationship.
