Rock musician Courtney Love finds being a single mother hard. The 43-year-old widow of Kurt Cobain says she's trying her best in bringing up her daughter to the late rocker.
Love, who lost custody of 15-year-old Frances Bean for 2 years because of drug use, insists she has a strong bond with her daughter in spite of the instability in her life.
"We get along well most of the time but teenagers are hard. Being a single mother is hard."
She also allows her daughter to watch a movie with a friend without body guard, "I wanted to show her that she could go out in London without a nanny or bodyguard, so they went by themselves. I wanted to get her a cake because it is the first time she had gone anywhere on her own.
"I just want things to be good for her, but she's a lot like me and a lot like her dad. I think she got the best of both of us, so there's that."
Love also insists that she doesn't deserve her hellraiser reputation, claiming she is only regarded as such because she's a woman.
"I always seem to come number two to Keith Richards in lists of greatest hellraisers of al time. But if I was a guy, I wouldn't even be on the list! I didn't know it was such a guy's job. It's like playing football in high heels and lipstick, no wonder it smears."
