Late night talk show host Conan O'Brien arrived in Helsinki Saturday to celebrate the re-election of Finnish President Tarja Halonen. The comedian quipped that he expects Halonen will reward him with a Cabinet position as the inspector of saunas.
O'Brien caused quite a stir last year when he supported Halonen's re-election campaign with mock ads promoting the politician. Speaking with the Associated Press, O'Brien said, "Why do I support Tarja Halonen? Because she's got the total package: a dynamic personality, a quick mind, and most importantly - my good looks." The last comment was a reference to the shared resemblance between Halonen and O'Brien.
There were close to 2,000 fans waiting for O'Brien's arrival in this northern European country, where O'Brien's show is unusually popular.
Halonen, 62, won re-election two weeks ago. She is Finland's first female president.
