He may have done several movies since then, but acting wasn't one of Clint Eastwood's life-long dreams growing up. The Oscar-winning director recently said that he considered himself somewhat "backward" as a child.
The Hollywood legend has revealed he never planned to be an actor and is surprised by his success.
He told Parade magazine, "I wonder how I got this far in life. Growing up, I never knew what I wanted to do. I was not a terribly good student or very vivacious. I was a backward kid."
Clint even promised himself he would never become an actor because it would ruin his life.
He explained, "I didn't want to be an actor. I thought an actor had to be an extrovert - somebody who loved to tell jokes. Someone who was bound to decay."
Clint has also revealed he may return to acting.
The 76-year-old admits he now prefers to be behind the camera because he can dress as he pleases, but refuses to rule out starring in a movie again.
He explained, "I like being behind the camera instead of behind it. I can wear what I want. Will I act again? I never say never."
