Many Barbra Streisand fans aren't quite so happy and excited about seeing their music icon in concert right now-that is, if they even get a chance to. Ticketmaster revealed that thousands of tickets for the singer's shows in New York, Las Vegas, and other locations were purchased on the company's website using stolen credit cards, thus forcing Ticketmaster to make the tickets no longer valid.
Many fans who purchased their tickets through Internet resale websites ended up caught in a mess they can't get out of. Now these fans are merely crap out of luck.
In a statement, Barbra's manager, Martin Erlichman, said, "Fans who have purchased or who are considering purchasing Barbra Streisand tickets on those sites are not guaranteed admittance to the venue. The 'buyers beware' adage applies here more than ever."
Fans who had already purchased tickets to the Farewell tour can check their ticket status by visiting www.ticketmaster.com/barbrastresisand and verifying the voided confirmation and seat numbers posted. Concertgoers can seek refund for their tickets from the site or through law enforcement in their area.
"It is a serious violation of the law to try to buy concert tickets using stolen credit card information and, when successful, to resell those tickets to unknowing consumer victims through resale Websites. With the Streisand tour the unusually high number of incidents of fraud has prompted us to issue this specific warning," said Ticketmaster president and chief operating officer Sean Moriarty.
