Climate change is obviously affecting Australians all over the globe and Hollywood definitely isn't far behind.

Oscar-winning Hollywood star Cate Blanchett was in Brisbane on Monday to encourage Queenslanders to become aware of the issues around climate change. She visited the drought-ravaged Lake Samsonvale, north of Brisbane.

She also launched the Australian Conservation Foundation's new online campaign, whoonearthcares.com.

She said the campaign is about bringing people from all over the country together to work on climate change solutions.

She said, "I think that the majority of Australians are beginning to realize that we can't hope to address the very real issues of water shortages and drought unless we significantly reduce Australia's spiraling greenhouse emissions."

"Climate change is an issue that affects each and every one of us, and therefore it's up to each and every one of us to act responsibly and do something about it."

The 38-year-old star said there was no greater issue facing the world, but neither the Howard government nor Labor was doing enough.
