Britney Spears is likely to spend Christmas alone.
The 26-year-old pop star had been looking forward to spending Christmas with her sons, Jayden James and Sean Preston, but since snubbing off a scheduled deposition on Wednesday that privilege might be challenged by ex-husband Kevin Federline's attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan.
Kaplan told the reporters waiting outside his firm that Spears was ill and therefore absent at the court-ordered date.
Sam Lutfi, Spears' friend, tells OK! Magazine that "she's very sick with high anxiety."
Kaplan didn't specify when would the rescheduled deposition, if there's any planned again, take place. Although he adds, "I may exercise my right to ask the court for relief." That could mean asking the judge who handles the case the cut down Spears' time with the children.
In another matter, the Catholic League is incensed by the idea that the pop star might play Virgin Mary in "Sweet Baby Jesus."
"She is seriously miscast. She would be better suited to play the lead in a flick called 'Monica' [Lewinsky]. If she did, the Catholic League would be delighted to send her a box of cigars!" president Bill Donahue says.
One of the producers, Philippe Rebboah, tells US magazine that he thought it was a brilliant plan to cast Spears as the virgin mother and that she has already read the script and likes the idea.
If Spears agrees to the script and all will push through, Donahue says, "Let's just hope it doesn't open wide."
