Brian May has gone back to school. The Queen guitarist has been in Spain's Canary Islands to work on his thesis, 'Radical Velocities in the Zodiacal Dust Cloud', in order to complete his degree studies.
The 60-year-old musician has been conducting astronomical observations at the Institute of Astrophysics of the Canary Islands and is expected to complete his experiment by next Wednesday.
Speaking about his studies on his website, May made reference to classic Queen hit 'Bohemian Rhapsody', saying: "Maybe you'd like to see the Telescope we are working in."
"Galileo... Galileo... how full of coincidences life is."
May will hand in his finished thesis to London's Imperial College and will then wait for university assessors to approve his work and grant him his PhD.
May was studying astrophysics at the college when he formed Queen with singer Freddie Mercury and drummer Roger Taylor in 1970.
However, he quit his studies because of the band's burgeoning success.
Last year, he co-wrote 'Bang! The Complete History of the Universe' with famed British astrologer Patrick Moore and Chris Lintott.
Earlier this month, May was granted an honorary doctorate from Exeter University.
