Boy George has had an electronic tag allowing police to monitor his whereabouts removed. The "Karma Chameleon" singer was sentenced to wear the tag on his ankle at all times as a condition of his early release from jail for his assault and false imprisonment of a male escort in 2007.

He has also had a curfew, which was placed on him as part of his bail terms, lifted. Posting a picture of his ankle with the tag on his Twitter blog, George wrote underneath it "The Final Countdown."

Boy George has been released from prison 11 months early. The former Culture Club singer - real name George O'Dowd - left Suffolk's Edmunds Hill Prison Monday morning after serving just four months of his 15-month sentence for the false imprisonment and assault of male escort Audun Carlsen.

Looking relaxed and somewhat slimmer, the 47-year-old star - who was sporting a neatly-trimmed grey beard - smiled and saluted waiting photographers as he left the institution.

Gavin Rossdale had a five-year relationship with a male pop star. The former Bush singer - who has two sons with wife Gwen Stefani and a daughter from a previous relationship - allegedly had a long romance with androgynous British singer Marilyn in the 80s.

Marilyn, 46, said: "He was the love of my life. We were together five years, but it felt like 40."

Boy George is working in the prison canteen. The Culture Club singer, who is serving a 15-month sentence at north London's Pentonville Prison for falsely imprisoning a male escort, has landed an $8.50-a-week job serving food to his fellow inmates.

A source said: "It won't go down well if he's seen to get special privileges. People have to wait weeks before they're given good jobs."

Boy George refused to give evidence at his false imprisonment trial to protect his dying mother. The former Culture Club singer - who was found guilty of holding male escort Audun Carlsen in his London apartment in 2007 after handcuffing him to a radiator - faces a maximum sentence of life in prison when his punishment is handed down Friday.

According to his brother David, George - real name George O'Dowd - but would rather be jailed than cause his ailing mother Dinah O'Dowd any further heartache by speaking about the incident.
