Bobby Brown may need some support when it comes to paying his child support.
The '80s R&B star was arrested on February 26 while at his daughter's cheerleading competition. If he does not pay the $20,000 owed to Kim Ward, the mother of two of his children, he faces up to 30 days in jail.
Brown, who has not released a successful album since "Don't Be Cruel," is struggling to meet the high payments since his career has faded.
His lawyer, Phaedra Parks, spoke from Brown's home town of Atlanta, saying, "We're diligently working on getting those funds available from outside sources. Although this agreement was put in place when he was Bobby Brown the star, this agreement is being enforced when he is not always able to find work. He hasn't made an album in quite some years."
Brown attempted to resurrect his once thriving career, which included a Grammy award, with a reality TV series called "Being Bobby Brown". However, since he has split from wife Whitney Houston, the show has been cancelled.
Failing to pay child support has been a reoccurring issue for the singer. In 2004 and 2005, Brown narrowly escaped serving time by paying the funds at the 11th hour. He has also had other charges against him, such as an outstanding motor vehicle violation.
Brown and Houston, who have a daughter, Bobbi Kristina, separated after an alleged drug-filled 14 years together.
