American Blues singer Etta James is reported to be in stable condition after suffering complications during abdominal surgery the artist underwent last month.
The 69-year-old singer was due to join BB King and Al Green for the musical tour this summer, but due to her illness she would now be replaced by "I'm Every Woman" singer Chaka Khan.
"If it had been left solely up to her, she would have checked herself out of the hospital and started the tour regardless," the star's manager told the BBC News, adding that Jetta won't be able to give any performances before September.
The jazz singer was also due to perform for the final Saturday-night concert of the Paetec Jazz Festival on Aug. 11. That slot would be filled instead by pianist and singer Little Richard.
