Billie Piper doesn't believe in making New Year's resolutions. The stunning 'Doctor Who' actress - who married actor Laurence Fox on New Year's Eve - refuses to set herself goals for 2008, because she is never able to keep them.

She said: "I'm absolutely not going to make a resolution. January is the worst possible month to give up everything."

Billie, 25, who is a keen smoker, has no plans to kick her nicotine habit. She added: "January is cold, dark and miserable - just the time when you need your comforts. It's at this time of year you want to smoke, drink and eat everything."

Billie also said she hopes troubled singer Amy Winehouse soon gets her life back on track.

She said: "I was at Sylvia Young's Theatre School in London with Amy Winehouse and she was a friend."

"I wouldn't be so presumptuous as to give her advice as she battles her demons, she has to work things out for herself. But I hope she has people around her who take care of her."
