I am disgusted at Beyonce's seeming contempt for Lauryn Hill. I am no fan of Beyonce, and this makes it less likely so. To me Beyonce is nothing but 'the whitest black girl in town'. She needs some grounding and education about who she really is; she is obviously 'Miseducated'.

I've just redently becpme a fan of Beyonce, but feels she could of kept that comment to herself. She has looks but feel she's not at liberty to say anything about ms Hill. She has looks but not street smarts. The bottom line to all this is that she dont have a relationship with God. When thers a relationship, then you dont make comments like the one she has. All the cloths and nakeness is nothing for the younger genergation. Beyonce may be a good singer, however she does not have the power that Lauryn has, the power to open our eyes, unlock our minds and inspire us to see the world clearly. Lauryn has done this effortlessly not only through her music but through her spirit.

I don't believe that Beyonce meant harm to Lauryn when she made the comments, we all say things that are not very well put together and very well thought out. Beyonce and Lauryn Hill are both sisters and I try my best to support and pray for the entire family of African American's of course White Americans too but.you know. I don't think that B even understood what she was saying herself. yes, I'am a fan of both B and Lauryn, but you can't compare the two. Lauryn Hill is, obviously, searching for truth right now. She is seeking and she will find. However, it doesn't help when people make off-handed comments about you when they don't really know you. I see Ms. Hill as being in a totally different class than Ms. Knowles. I don't see truth in what Ms. Knowles is doing. I don't see a lot of thought or any depth to the songs that Ms. Knowles writes, but if Ms. Hill never makes another album, never plays in another movie, or never sings another song, she will always be remembered as a seeker of truth. Who do you know that is totally "black" or fully "white?" This country has mixed races since the Europeans came over here to claim this land. Anyways, I'm not a real fan of Beyonce but one thing that I can say is that we have to be careful to reserve judgment. We don't know who Beyonce truly is or who Lauryn truly is either. We don't live with these people day in and day out. Instead of looking at the negative in people, why can't we look for the positive things. This is what is truly wrong with this society. Why do we have to resort to calling people out of their names? Beyonce doesn't really know what has happened in Lauryn's life. Likewise, we don't know what has happened in Beyonce's life. We are only fed what the media wants us to know. Open up your eyes and wake up. Open up your ears and hear. Jesus is the truth and he is the light and most of all, he is love. If a lot of us had him in our lives, we wouldn't waste empty words on foolishness. Don't wait until it's too late to ask him to be a part of your life. He can change you and turn things around.

I never get to understand why people have this perception that Lauryn Hill is racist, because some uninformed, stupid, and ignorant person called the howard stern show years ago to claim that Lauryn is racist and she does not want white people to come to her concerts or buy her music. By the way Lauryn sings rap which originates from Africa and RnB which is music predominantly supported by black people. I think her statement meant that she will preserve African culture which is very important she has to continue the legacy that was initiated by your billy holidays and your Aretha franklins. How many rock stars have been singing rock music for more than 30 years would they be called racists for not collaborating with legendary rap or RnB artists, I don’t think so. People need to be educated they must not confuse her intelligence with racism. Lauryn has publicly stated that Bob Marley is her musical influence. I think Bob Marley was a revolutionist he sang about politics and he has changed the face of music and for those who don’t know Bob Marley’s father was white and his mother is black do people want to say he is racist. Lauryn is intelligent because she reads, she understands global politics and her surroundings if people wanna call it racism I call it miseducation and ignorance. If people think Lauryn Hill is racist they must ask Zach Braff from Scrubs who happens to be jewish, they are childhood friends, they went to the same high school and university. And a lot of people have this perception that Lauryn Hill grew up in the ghettos, they are so wrong she comes from a middle class family background I think people need to do a lot of research before they could write any comments on these blogs. I have discovered that a lot of white guys in my country prefer Lauryn Hill than Beyonce. Most of them say Lauryn Hill possesses exotic African looks, she is naturally thin like most women in West Africa, she has the most beautiful pair of legs, and the dreadlock thing makes them go crazy. To top it all she has a very enigmatic character that makes her very sexy and she is also multi talented because she can sing, rap, produce, write songs, act, and she is also intelligent. Recently people have been going crazy about her body they cannot believe that a woman with 4 kids can look like her without going under the knife its unbelievable. She was on the cover of Essence Magazine Feb issue 2006, my god she looks perfect, I can’t think of any female celebrity in hollywood that looks like her. I fully agree with the previous writer, Lauryn Hill looks hot for a mother of 4. I also have the February 2006 issue of essence magazine ooh my god she looks prefect. She has great genes I can’t think of any Hollywood celebrity that has 4 kids and looks like that, her facial features, skin and legs they are out of this world. Recently there has been some negative reporting by the media that she has lost it and she does not look good anymore and her dress sense is misplaced. Just to refresh my memory despite her success Lauryn has never been one of those “Hollywood it girls walking on the red carpet like an idiot” that’s not her thing, since we have known her she has always had her own personal style that defines who she is and people loved that. She would wear designer clothes but look simple and more beautiful than any one in the room. One thing about Lauryn is that she is naturally thin and beautiful, she does not need to go the extra mile to prove a point and that’s why the world fell in love her.

She came to perform in my country last year she had a wig but my god her body and her face looked amazing. And I have seen some photos of her performing recently she is still thin and beautiful, the only thing that has changed is her hair even though I love her with dreadlocks I think the huge wigs suits her personality. She is two faced I remember prior to the Janet Jackson boob saga she planned to collaborate with her, immediately after that she distanced herself from Janet. Sometime last year after the release of b day, she was interviewed by Sway from MTV. When Sway compared her to Michael Jackson in terms of both having their fathers influence their careers. She said people must not compare her to Michael because she had a normal childhood, I thought that was stupid because she did not even answer what Sway was asking her. I m a white female but I realise everyday that white people have a problem with any black person associated with power. I could never understand why people refer to Lauryn Hill as racist. She has never said she does not like white people, and these malicious allegations against her were not founded she even talked about it on MTV masters. I agree with you guys, this is so true I have read so many blogs, most people claiming that Lauryn Hill is racist, this matter has been cleared years ago and these allegations were not true. Beyonce chose to sing bubblegum music, and Lauryn chose to educate the world and what is racist about that. Beyonce might be light skinned and have a long weave, but I think Lauryn is more beautiful and sexy because she has amazing African facial features (her rich chocolate skin, beautiful lips and eyes, her tough body for a mother of 4 I think she sleeps in the gym, those beautiful legs they are amazing). I have much respect for Lauryn Hill, this woman showed signs of influence at an early age, her high school teachers said she was involved in a lot of school activities (academic and sports), brilliant in writing poetry, she would speak with command during her poetry sessions, smart and intelligent, loved by her school mates, used to collect food from her neighbours to give to poor kids, and she still does a lot of humanitarian work. Lauryn comes from a middle class family background and she went to predominantly white schools but we admire her ability to relate to people of all cultures and backgrounds. Even though her parents encouraged her to be a star they always emphasised the importance of education. Much love to the woman who represents we need another album to educate the ignorant and the misinformed.

Lauren did not lose herself.she let go of the made up, not so real industry. She made a perfect decision not to continue to betray herself, her dignity, and her soul. Most of all, she regained her spirit. She is an excellent mother, which is one of the reasons she let the industry go. You could never regain missing out on being a mother. You can always go back to the industry stronger. Society and the industry is the reason why so many of our women degrade themselves and what we stand for. Lauren is a true woman of what we stand for. If she ever made the decision to come back, she would come back stronger than ever because she represents what a true black woman stands for.

First, we must look at the comment. When placed back into context, from where many of you all removed it, Beyonce was commenting on how Lauryn Hill collapsed under the pressures of fame. This is NOT a comparison of talent; thus comments comparing the talents of these two individuals were seemingly pulled out of obscurity. Yes, the story of Lauryn Hill is tragic in the sense that because she was not able to cope with growing pressures she took the proverbial fall. Many people have called this comment disrespectful; I just don't see it. Also, look at where the quotes are placed in the first sentences of this articles; Beyonce did not say, "[I] will never lose myself like Lauryn Hill." However, she did say, "[Lauryn Hill's] story is the most tragic. I mean, her record was genius." To me it seems like praise, no?

Obviously any intelligent person would never compare Lauryn and Beyonce in terms of looks, talent, IQ or any other related matter, they are so different. We all know that the media sensationalise any reports about celebrities. But I still maintain any smart artist would never say any unconstructive comment about other artists. We know that Lauryn has had a tough time in the past years but I don’t think that any one has got the authority to comment on her situation because she has always been a private person. I think beyonce wanted to say something about Lauryn but it came out incorrect. Lauryn story is not tragic I believe she needed change in order to grow and become a better person. In the past years she decided to become a mother and had 4 kids and concentrated on her family, how is motherhood tragic someway or another all women have to go through that phase. Beyonce must not forget that people love her for her looks and body, not really her talent, its her era now but she can be easily replaced because there will be some young pop star who will look more beautiful than her so she is not indispensable. Lauryn is also beautiful but when we think of her, the first thing that comes to mind is her talent.

I don’t think Lauryn Hill has lost herself she needed to find spiritual fulfilment and people call it crazy; people are so ignorant and misinformed. I think the media just wants to bring down a black sister who is so talented more than any of these present so called divas combined. Even 9 years after the release of the Miseducation no other female artist has ever touched Lauryn’s depth and level. They can do advertising for major brands, wear designer clothes and parade on the red carpet, attend glamorous Hollywood events, shake bootys all over the show, and win awards they don’t deserve but I still maintain Lauryn is irreplaceable.

The MTV unplugged album was criticised by many because she did not perform with a band and her voice was not that good because she strained her vocal cords prior to the show and her doctor advised her not to perform, but she insisted because she did not want to disappoint her fans (article from the rolling stone magazine). But many music critics commended her for the powerful lyrical content of each song, and we all know that a lot of artists today fail to succeed in that department. And 2 songs from that album were sampled by kanye west and method man. She might have moved away from the spotlight but we cannot deny her contribution to the music industry.

I truly believe that beyonce made these comments. If anyone saw her interview with Sway from MTV news prior to the release of b day it was also repeated this past weekend. Sway asked her that most people compare her to Michael Jackson in relation to the fact that their fathers are responsible for their careers.

Her response was that people must not compare her to Michael because she had a normal childhood; I thought that was disrespectful and judgemental, especially when she does not even have a personal relationship with the Jacksons.

Sway asked her about how she handles the fame when Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston had it rough.

Her response was that she is protected by something higher than herself. Anyone who would compare beyonce to Mariah is plain stupid. For crying out loud Mariah might have gone through a difficult phase, but she has always been on top of her game she has sold more than 200 million records on her own and she is in the top 10 of the richest women in showbiz.

She was approached to be on the Matrix, Charlie‘s Angels, Matt Damon wanted her to on the Bourne Supremacy and Brat Pitt wanted her for Mexicana, Oprah wanted her for The Beloved, and she was also spotted for Dreamgirls, and she said she receives a lot of movie scripts but she is just not interested.

Beyonce – Fighting Temptations, Austin Powers, Pink Panther and Dreamgirls. In all these movies she plays herself she sings and that glamorous sexy look I am just bored with it. She was not even nominated for an Oscar because she can’t act; she just stays there and looks pretty.
