David Beckham has thanked fans and medical staff for their support following his father's heart attack.

The Los Angeles Galaxy soccer star, who penned the heartfelt note soon after arriving back in the U.S., praised hospital workers who nursed his dad Ted back to health last week.

David wrote on his official blog, "I would like to thank the doctors, nurses and ambulance staff who were amazing in their care of my dad. I'd also like to thank all of you who sent messages of support, flowers and cards to the hospital - they were greatly appreciated."

The soccer star dashed home to England last Wednesday when he was told his 59-year-old father had been rushed to hospital and was fighting for his life.

Ted is now recovering in east London's Chest Hospital, and is expected to be released soon.

David has reportedly hired Ted a chauffeur, housekeeper and cleaner to ensure he is looked after once he leaves hospital.

He has also asked the housekeeper to stock up on Ted's favorite foods, including lamb and gammon steaks, and fill the house with flowers ready for his arrival.
