The Beatles' song 'Across The Universe' is going across the universe. The peace anthem has been selected by NASA to be the first song beamed into space.
The space agency will celebrate its 40th anniversary on February 4 and they are doing it with a blast-off. They are set to aim the sonic blaster to go farther than any spacecraft. It is expected to reach the North Star, Polaris in 431 years.
The space experts also names February 4 as 'Across The Universe Day' and they are asking the legendary group's fans to celebrate with them by playing the song simultaneously at 7 p.m. EST.
The blast-off news has been well-received by a former member and another member's widow. Sir Paul McCartney expresses his joy as saying, "Amazing! Well done, NASA! Send my love to the aliens."
"I see that this is the beginning of the new age in which we will communicate with billions of planets across the universe," Yoko One, John Lennon's widow, says.
