Pete Doherty has been arrested for suspected drug possession. The troubled Babyshambles rocker was detained in Tower Hamlets, east London, in the early hours of Monday.

A Scotland Yard spokesman confirmed: "At 2.30am on Monday morning officers in Tower Hamlets arrested a 28-year-old man on suspicion of possessing drugs."

Pete Doherty saved a man from a motorway car crash. The Babyshambles frontman, who was traveling from Chelmsford to Stafford to perform with his band at the V-Festival this weekend, leapt into action after seeing the vehicle smash into a concrete reservation.

A source told Britain's The Sun newspaper: "Pete saw the overturned car billowing with smoke in the middle of the carriageway. The band stopped and pulled a guy in his 50s from the vehicle. He had hit a concrete block on the side of the road and the car flipped over."

Kate Moss has branded Pete Doherty a "traitor rat" for lifting the lid on their failed romance.

The Babyshambles rocker gave an exclusive interview last week in which he called the supermodel a "nasty old rag", while begging her to take him back.

Pete Doherty escaped jail again yesterday.

The Babyshambles rocker - who pleaded guilty to possession of crack cocaine, heroin, cannabis and ketamine as well as two driving offences in July - had expected to be sentenced at West London Magistrates' Court, but instead was given four weeks to get himself drug-free or face a prison sentence.

British fashion designer and supermodel Kate Moss' best pal, Sadie Frost, is reportedly so worried about Moss that she has cancelled her family plans to spend time with her kids to be with the troubled model, who is said to be having a wild time in Marbella, Spain.

"Sadie is worried Kate's just having a kneejerk reaction to losing Pete. She's been on the phone to her daily, counseling her and telling her to be careful," The Daily Mail quoted a source as saying.
