Avril Lavigne and her husband Deryck Whibley are spending big money on their new home. The couple, who married in July 2006, have reportedly dished out $9.5 million on a mansion in Bel Air.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the new pad has 10 bathrooms, eight bedrooms and a garage that can hold 10 vehicles. It also features an elevator, pool, sauna and steam shower.

Avril Lavigne's level of fame is nothing compared to Britney Spears, but that hasn't stopped the pop-punk singer from giving her some advice.

The newly married singer, who is promoting her third album, has discussed Spears' public breakdown which involved nightly drinking and shaving her head in full view of photographers.

While other musical stars are partying too hard and checking into rehab, Avril Lavigne is settling into married life.

But since the angry episode, Avril has regained her composure and apologized for spitting at a paparazzi photographer.

In a statement, Avril relented, "I'd like to sincerely apologize for my behavior with the paparazzi. It's trying at best to deal with their insistent intrusions. I meant no offense to my fans, whose relationship I truly value. I have and will always go out of my way for my fans. My behavior was a reaction to the persistent attack from the paparazzi."

The couple - who have been dating for two years - exchanged vows in an outdoor ceremony at a private estate near Santa Barbara.
