Ashley Judd has suffered from depression since she was eight. The 'De Lovely' actress claimed no one noticed her "severe loneliness" because her mother, country music singer Naomi Judd, was always away on tour.
She told Town and Country magazine: "I had a very unsafe and unstable childhood about 10 months out of the year."
"I didn't have my normal, natural little girl needs met."
"I had my first childhood depression at eight - severe, intense, hole-in-the-soul loneliness. No one noticed."
Ashley once took a week off school because she was "ashamed" to ask her friends for a ride.
She said: "I didn't have a ride and I'd gotten ashamed of calling friends."
Ashley entered a clinic in Texas in February 2006 for treatment for personal issues. She was discharged after 47 days.
Ashley married NASCAR driver Dario Franchitti in 2001 after failed romances with Michael Bolton, Matthew McConaughey, Lyle Lovett, Robert DeNiro and baseball player Brady Anderson.
