Anthony Hopkins is an Oscar winner, a Hollywood veteran and one of the most loved stars in cinema. But once upon a time he was just another wild actor running around Hollywood.
The "Silence Of The Lambs" star admits that he understands Hollywood stars of today, many of whom are battling drug and alcohol addictions in rehab.
Hopkins, 69, was an alcoholic during the '70s.
He recently said, "When I was younger, at the height of my really self-destructive behavior, I went through a period where I drank too muchand the rest of it. I see young successful kids now freak out and I suppose I was like that."
While Hopkins can identify with young stars like Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears, he had some trouble seeing eye-to-eye with Oscar nominee Ryan Gosling.
The pair co-stared in the thriller "Fracture" and Hopkins admits to getting tired of Gosling's dedication to a scene.
The actor explained, "He wanted to become involved in the analysis of the plot and all that. I was concerned we were going to talk it into oblivion. I get so bored: 'For God's sake, shoot it!'"
But the fall out didn't last long. The veteran apologized for his outburst during re-shoots. Hopkins admitted, "I said I misunderstood this, and I could see now what he was fighting for."
