She's come a long way and Madonna isn't quite the "Material Girl" anymore. The music icon recently revealed she would be interested in adopting another child down the line, but for right now, she wants to enjoy her precious time with her newly adopted baby son.
Madame Madge and her British film director husband Guy Ritchie obtained temporary parental custody of 13-month-old Malawian baby David last month, with a full adoption pending.
Despite coming under intense criticism over her actions, Madonna insists she would be prepared to open up her family to another disadvantaged child.
When quizzed on the subject, she told the BBC current affairs program "Newsnight," "I wouldn't rule it out. I wouldn't like another adoption to be conducted in the same manner. But for now I want to enjoy David first."
The 48-year-old has also urged more people to go to Africa to adopt to avert the "crisis" that is occurring.
She explained, "Malawi has one million orphans. I can only imagine how many there are in Nigeria and elsewhere in the region. The reality is quite shocking. There is a crisis in Africa. When you have an adult population wiped out by AIDS you have to do something about it."
Madame Madge also revealed that she and Guy - who already have two children, six-year-old Rocco and Lourdes, nine, from Madonna's relationship with fitness instructor Carlos Leon - had wanted to adopt for two years.
She added, "Me and Guy had been talking about adoption for two years and decided to definitely go ahead with it a year ago. It's no accident, I started my charity work in Malawi and I thought, 'Why not here?'"
