Anne Hathaway is one starlet who won't be buying into the size zero craze.
"The Devil Wears Prada" star is frequently featured on best dressed lists and praised for her curves, so she will not lose them for a possible film role.
While other stars like Kate Bosworth and Nicole Richie are shrinking before the paparazzi's lenses, Hathaway is aiming to be a role model for teenage girls.
She said, "It's completely understandable as a teenager to fret about your body. It's scary because you don't know how it's going to wind up. But I'm not a teenager any more; my body's chosen its shape."
Hathaway continued, "I'd rather be strong than skinny for most roles. I'm not a size zero, and I've had directors say to me, 'You're the best actress for the role, but you've put on weight recently.' If people can't understand you've put on five pounds, I don't want to deal with them."
The actress' commitment to acting goes further than just her weight. Starring in the upcoming film, "Becoming Jane," about classic author Jane Austin, Hathaway has revealed she will quit the business if she hasn't done justice to the iconic character.
She said, "If I messed this up, I'd never forgive myself. I might have to stop acting. The key thing was the accent because everybody will be listening for it."
While the star was working hard to stay in character during the English production, her boyfriend, Raffaello Follieri, preferred to speak with Anne rather than Jane.
She revealed, "He begged me to stop. I really immersed myself in it, but when I talked to Raffaello, he said, 'Please! It's bad enough you're abroad and I can't see you, now I can't even hear you!' So I spoke as myself with him."
