Independent folk singer Ani DiFranco has welcomed a baby girl.

The singer, who has had a string of well-known songs including "Untouchable Face," gave birth to daughter Petah Lucia on January 20.

DiFranco had the baby at her home in Buffalo. A representative for her record label told PEOPLE magazine, "It was a long delivery, but mom and baby are both doing very well."

The baby's father is music engineer and producer Mike Napolitano. The singer was previously married to sound engineer Andrew Gilchrist, but they parted ways in 2003.

It is the first child for the couple.
