Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have stopped being the world's most devoted parents for a day and stepped out as movie stars.
The stunning couple arrived in Cannes for the international film festival, where they are premiering their joint production "A Mighty Heart."
The parents-of-four brought glamour to the French festival, looking like the epitome of Hollywood in their classic black outfits. However, it was merely another opportunity for the social conscious pair to promote peace.
Angelina, who plays widow Mariane Pearl in the film, discussed her feelings about playing the true-life character.
She said, "I admired her from afar and then we just wanted to have a play day and somehow I just ended up in all of this together. I care very much about her and her story and I believe very much in her voice. I was very nervous to get it right. In the end, we all at this table and others not represented here had a chance to learn a lot and get closer and grow and just the experience is something I'm grateful for."
Brad, meanwhile, emphasized the importance of the films message.
He said, "We have great respect for this story and its place in the world and our friendship that has formed because of it. The message is very important to us and we think it stands on its own and that's first and foremost in our minds."
Angelina has been very vocal in the media lately, talking about her apparently perfect family, relationship with Brad and work as a U.N. ambassador. She has said some controversial statements, including a reference to her biological daughter as a blob, but refuses to censor herself.
The stunning Oscar winner sat down with Ann Curry for an interview. Being frank, the "Mr. And Mrs. Smith" star said, "There's nothing I have to hide or defend. I'm gonna live my life. There are gonna be times when people wanna try to attack me and I don't know why, but they will. And that's okay. . There are other things I'm more concerned about. My kids are healthy. I have a lot I want to do in this world...I wanna do a lot of things as a woman, as a mom, and - and that's my focus."
She continued, "I have always been honest about who I am, and I've always been very outspoken to press. I think people have heard a lot from me over the years...[If] people wanna believe negative things, they will... I can't help that. I'm gonna be dead one day. And what people say about me is gonna be what I accomplished and what I did in my life and how my children are."
Brad and Angelina are currently based in Europe with their family while the actress films scenes for a new movie.
