Amy Winehouse is under 24-hour surveillance to help her kick her drug addictions. The troubled singer's father, Mitch, has reportedly employed professionals to ensure Amy doesn't let drugs ruin her life, after footage of her smoking what appeared to be crack cocaine was released earlier this week.

A source close to 57-year-old Mitch told Britain's The Sun newspaper: "Mitch realizes this is crunch time. Amy either has to choose life or oblivion. The family have been keeping a very close eye on her for weeks now."

"In fact, her brother was with her just one hour before she was filmed smoking crack. But Mitch now realizes that even this is not enough any more and Amy needs 24-hour surveillance."

After the footage emerged, taxi driver Mitch said he hoped it would encourage Amy to seek professional help.

He said: "I've spoken to her already and she is fine. She says she is OK, so no problems. To be honest, all that video shows is what everybody knew anyway."

"Yes, obviously I am worried about her but this video doesn't show anything we didn't already know before."

London's Scotland Yard Police are now "assessing" the video to determine whether or not further action needs to be taken against Amy.
