Amy Winehouse's new album is unlikely to be released this year as scheduled. The "Rehab" hitmaker has canceled plans to begin the recording of her third album, much to the dismay of her label bosses.
Island Records, the 24-year-old's label, had organized for a trip to the Bahamas to start her new record with producer Saleem Remi. However, Winehouse had backed out at the last minute.
A source was quoted by showbizspy.com, Island wanted to get her away from it all and thought it would be great surrounding for her. It was a very expensive trip and it was hoped they would make some decent progress recording the album. But Amy pulled out at the last minute.
"The album was planned for late 2008, but her label is now privately admitting it's unlikely to happen until 2009. She's not the kind of artist you can just stick in the studio for a month and get an album done. And I now think early 2009 would be a good result."
Remi had been involved with the Grammy Award winning singer on her debut album "Frank" and her smash hit follow-up "Back To Black."
