Divorce has made Alec Baldwin want to cringe and look the other way. The actor has revealed he's had his share of bad days where he thought he just couldn't take it anymore.
He says his divorce battle with ex-wife Kim Basinger was so hard he "wanted to die."
The "Malice" star - who officially split from Basinger in 2002 - insists the "horrible lies" the actress told about him made him wish he was dead.
He revealed to America's GQ magazine, "I remember lying in bed, thinking I wanted to die on the spot. I would say, 'Please don't let me wake up. I can't face another day.'
"My ex-wife once said, 'He's Saddam Hussein.' I thought, 'Do I hide myself in cramped underground quarters? Do I like to shoot firearms in a celebratory way? Did I execute whole villages of people and bulldoze their bodies into a pit? What are you saying? Explain this to me,'" he added.
Baldwin also expressed his support for another headline-making actor and father, Tom Cruise. The actor thinks the hysteria surrounding the "Top Gun" star, his fiancee Katie Holmes, their baby daughter Suri and his Scientology beliefs has gotten way out of hand.
He explained, "I think what's been done to Tom is kind of silly. I don't really understand Tom's religious beliefs - nor do I want to. All I know is I don't want to see people who are disciples of Tom's faith driving planes into the World Trade Center."
"When Scientologists start crashing planes into the Pentagon, then I think we should sit Tom down and have a grand jury talk to him. In the meantime, let's just leave him alone," he added.
