"X Men 2" star Alan Cummings has married his boyfriend in a civil ceremony in London.
The Scottish-born actor, who resides in New York, and commercial illustrator Grant Shaffer tied the knot in a unique and quirky ceremony that started in London, floated down the Thames River and finished in Greenwich.
The couple said their vows at the Old Royal Naval College. They walked down the aisle to the theme song from Cumming's film "Circle Of Friends" and finished the ceremony with Queen's "You're My Best Friend" while guests watched them have their first skate, not dance, on a custom built ice skating rink.
Cummings released a statement regarding the same-sex marriage, saying, "Not only are we so happy to be able to celebrate our love for each other, but also to be able to do it in a country that properly recognizes the rights of same-sex couples. As residents of America we would have loved to marry there, but we hope that soon the civil rights that we have been afforded in the U.K. will be available to all gay Americans, and we look forward to celebrating not only our marriage, but the end of prejudice."
Cummings and Shaffer have been dating for two years.
Their wedding follows other homosexual stars, such as Sir Elton John and "Little Britain's" Matt Lucas.
