When it comes to creating new music material, Whitney Houston has counted on a little help from her friends.

Akon has been working on songs that will get everybody on their feet for Whitney's long-awaited comeback album. The R&B artist says the new record has been put together in the course of over a year with the help of music mogul Clive Davis.

The 25-year-old says he wants to make Whitney's new record "brighter" because she's been "through a lot" in the past year with recent divorce and drug problems. He hopes the album will be a celebration of her new life and newfound freedom.

According to MTV news, he said, "I'm working on more up tempo records for her. She's been through a lot and has a dark history. So we've got to make the album brighter because she's come out of the cave now."

He added, "She wants a celebration. She needs to come back to the old Whitney we remember."

The Grammy-award nominated artist is also allegedly working on Jacko's comeback album, but insists it's not something he can talk elaborate on.
